Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
AWS Cloud Engineer to design, implement, manage, monitor, secure, and optimize cloud infrastructure and services supporting the
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
The AWS Cloud Engineer will work within cross-functional product teams to support application infrastructure, cloud operations, automation, monitoring, security, scalability, and continuous delivery. The role will contribute to both day-to-day operations and modernization of cloud-based applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
- Support application environments hosted on AWS, including development, testing, and production environments.
- Work with AWS services supporting compute, storage, networking, databases, monitoring, automation, messaging, and application integration.
- Support services such as Amazon RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, EventBridge, SNS, SES, VPC, and related AWS services.
- Implement infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, networking, performance, and availability issues.
- Support cloud security, vulnerability management, identity/access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with cloud architecture, application modernization, migration, and optimization initiatives.
- Implement solutions that improve scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Support FinOps and cloud-cost optimization activities where applicable.
- Collaborate with Java developers, database developers, DevOps engineers, application administrators, security teams, and product teams.
- Automate repetitive operational and deployment processes.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong experience with core AWS infrastructure and application services.
- Experience with AWS networking, compute, storage, databases, IAM, monitoring, and security.
- Experience with Amazon RDS and S3.
- Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and related services.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government cloud environments.
- Experience with AWS security and compliance requirements.
- Experience with DevSecOps and automated security/code scanning.
- Experience with Java-based enterprise applications.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with Oracle databases hosted on AWS.
- Experience with containerization and cloud-native technologies.
- Experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
- Experience with N-1 technology lifecycle and vendor-supported infrastructure.
Clearance
U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the applicable federal Public Trust suitability determination.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $140,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
The posted range reflects the Sky's reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
