Azure / Fabric Data Engineer - 12+ Month Contract | Onsite 3x/Week | Deerfield Beach, FL

About the Role

JM Family Enterprises seeks a hands-on Azure / Fabric Data Engineer to drive both new Microsoft Fabric buildouts and Synapse-to-Fabric modernization for high-impact BI and data science initiatives. Join a collaborative data engineering group as the Fabric SME, partnering closely with architects, engineers, and business teams to deliver production-ready data solutions and accelerate our journey into next-generation analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, including notebooks, pipelines, OneLake solutions, and medallion architecture patterns.
• Translate enterprise architecture reference models into compliant, scalable Fabric implementations for business and data science teams.
• Migrate selected workloads from Azure Synapse to Fabric, ensuring data integrity and optimizing performance.
• Build and curate distinct datasets tailored for Power BI and data science consumption.
• Develop ETL/ELT workflows leveraging Azure Data Factory, SQL, Python, and Fabric orchestration tools.
• Collaborate with data scientists to prepare and engineer features, supporting advanced analytics and machine learning efforts.
• Operate as a self-directed subject matter expert, adhering to enterprise standards and contributing within Agile / CI/CD environments.
• Communicate project status, track deliverables, and report progress as part of Agile sprints.
• Engage with a dynamic team in a hybrid work setting, onsite three days per week at our Deerfield Beach campus.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric: pipelines, notebooks, OneLake, medallion architecture.
• Robust Azure data engineering background: Synapse, Data Factory, SQL, Python, ETL/ELT, and practical data modeling.
• Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively as an SME in a modern Agile, CI/CD-driven environment.
• Experience preparing data for both BI visualization and data science teams.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Bicep and infrastructure-as-code concepts (direct ownership not required).
• Exposure to feature engineering for machine learning data needs.
• Experience supporting large-scale data modernization and migration projects.
