Backend Java Developer - AI-Augmented Engineering Environment

Location: Pasadena, CA, 91101 (Hybrid - Onsite Interview Required)

About the Role

Join an innovative engineering team driving the next generation of scalable, AI-augmented backend systems. As a Backend Java Developer, you'll architect and develop robust, event-driven microservices, leverage leading cloud and AI technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional experts in a dynamic, growth-focused environment. This is your opportunity to work with advanced LLM agent workflows, modern DevOps practices, and cloud-native solutions while building impactful applications for a global enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Develop secure and scalable RESTful APIs and event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka and message queues.
• Integrate and optimize AI agent workflows (e.g., Copilot, Amazon Q) to automate and enhance engineering processes.
• Collaborate closely with front-end teams to deliver seamless, interactive user experiences.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on AWS Cloud using modern deployment strategies.
• Ensure code quality through rigorous unit testing, E2E frameworks, and code reviews.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for streamlined development and release cycles.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues to ensure high application availability and responsiveness.
• Stay at the forefront of backend and AI technology trends to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience

• 8+ years as a Java Developer focused on backend systems
• Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, Kafka/message queues, event-driven systems
• Practical knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud deployment strategies
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and DevOps practices
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Familiarity with SQL (Postgres) and NoSQL databases
• Proficient in testing frameworks and E2E testing methodologies
• Skilled with Git version control
• Direct experience integrating and leveraging AI agent workflows (Copilot, Amazon Q)
• Agile development environment experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with GraphQL APIs
• Exposure to complex, large-scale distributed backend systems
