As a backlot production team member, you’ll contribute to the university’s mission of preparing talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment. SCAD Film Studios (SFS) offers world-class production spaces and state-of-the-art technology to student filmmakers, digital media artists, actors, and designers across Georgia's booming entertainment industry.
To support faculty and student success, you’ll:
• Assist with the management of daily operations at the backlot production facility to ensure a safe and efficient environment
• Help manage the backlot for classes, productions, maintenance, tours, and special events
• Assist in training and supervising student workers and develop training materials to facilitate the use of equipment and spaces
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and address issues as they arise
• Collaborate with the backlot production manager on maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and equipment updates
As part of the SFS team, you’ll:
• Maintain daily documentation, procedural information, and issue resolutions
• Communicate key information and escalate high-priority concerns to the relevant personnel
• Monitor budget expenditures for supplies, equipment installations, and repairs
• Support the equipment checkout, engineering, and AV technical staff
• Research and assess emerging technologies
Candidates should ideally demonstrate:
• Knowledge of full gear assortment
• Basic knowledge of cameras, audio, lighting, and grip equipment used in digital filmmaking
Minimum qualifications:
• At least one year of experience in film production or a related field
• Experience in safety training, studio systems, video and audio equipment, and lighting for film or television
• Electrician capabilities and the ability to work with high power
• Proficiency with computer hardware
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in an educational setting
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
• Valid driver's license
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
