Backup and Recovery Engineer

The Backup Recovery Engineer will manage backup and recovery processes, ensure data integrity, and troubleshoot backup issues. This person will implement and maintain backup procedures, assist in developing and testing disaster recovery and COOP plans. This person will perform daily management of backup systems, monitor backup job completions, and resolve backup failures. This person will conduct regular backup verifications and test restores to ensure data recoverability. This person will manage tape rotations (if applicable) and off-site storage of backup media. This person will assist in capacity planning for backup infrastructure, implement data retention policies, and manage backup schedules to minimize impact on production systems. This person will collaborate with system administrators and database administrators to ensure all critical data is properly backed up. This person will participate in disaster recovery exercises, document recovery procedures, and contribute to the continuous improvement of backup and recovery processes. This person will stay current with backup and recovery technologies and best practices, and support the integration of backup and recovery processes with broader IT service management frameworks.

Requirements

• SECRET Security Clearance Required
• Cloud+,GICSP,GSEC,Security+, or SSCP cerification (for Junior / Journeyman roles)
• SecurityX/CASP+,CCNP Security,CCSP,FITSP-O, or GFACT certification (for Senior role)
• We are actively seeking multiple levels:
• • Junior: 0 - 3 years of experience + Bachelor's Degree
  • Journeyman: 4 - 7 years of experience + Bachelor's Degree
  • Senior: 8+ years of experience + Bachelor's Degree
• Good communication skills, self-starter mindset.
• Professional proficiency in English is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using all Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment: 

• Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment). 

• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

• Salary at Avalore is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combinaition of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
• Salary estimates for this job range from $107,000 - $220,000.
