Job Summary The Banquet Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering exceptional service to members and guests during club events, banquets, weddings, tournaments, meetings, and special functions. This position ensures efficient beverage service, maintains a clean and organized bar area, and complies with all club policies, food safety standards, and responsible alcohol service regulations. Job Duties & Responsibilities - Set up banquet bars according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event specifications
- Stock beer, wine, liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar supplies prior to each event
- Prepare fruits, garnishes, beverage mixes, and other bar ingredients
- Follow all opening, operating, and closing procedures for banquet events
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Secure and lock bar areas according to established procedures
- Greet members and guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to club recipes, event specifications, and service standards
- Answer questions regarding beverage selections, wine offerings, and event bar options
- Accurately process beverage transactions when required
- Maintain efficient service while managing high-volume event periods
- Thank members and guests and encourage future participation in club events
- Consistently comply with all local, state, and federal alcohol service laws and club policies
- Verify identification and age requirements when necessary
- Monitor alcohol consumption and responsibly slow or refuse service when appropriate
- Immediately notify management of concerns regarding member or guest behavior
- Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work environment
- Ensure all food and beverage products are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated
- Wash, sanitize, and maintain bar equipment, utensils, and work areas
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to each event and understand event timelines and beverage requirements
- Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown as assigned
- Coordinate with banquet servers, culinary staff, banquet captains, and management to ensure seamless event execution
- Attend staff meetings, pre-shift meetings, and required training sessions
- Support club events during peak periods, tournaments, weddings, and special functions
- Supports all Food & Beverage operations by cross-functioning as both a bartender and server, ensuring service standards are maintained and members receive prompt, courteous, and professional service regardless of assigned station
- Assist fellow team members to ensure exceptional member and guest experiences
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to club standards and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications & Experience - High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One (1) year of bartending experience required; banquet, catering, hotel, private club, or high-volume event experience preferred
- Previous customer service experience required
- Experience working large events and managing multiple priorities preferred
- Alcohol Beverage Certification required or must be obtained within a designated timeframe
- Food Safety Certification preferred or required in accordance with club policy
- Must meet all legal age requirements to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages per North Carolina law
Critical Skills - Strong knowledge of standard cocktail preparation, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages
- Ability to serve alcohol and confidently slow or refuse service when necessary
- Exceptional member and guest service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Basic knowledge of POS systems preferred
- Knowledge of club operations, pool hours, special events, and member activities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain professionalism in a busy outdoor environment
- Knowledge of and ability to perform assigned responsibilities during emergency situations
Schedule Requirements - While this role offers flexibility, availability on weekends and holidays is expected to support Club operations
Training - This role includes hands-on shadowing to ensure success and skill development
Travel Required Physical Demands - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, twist, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push and transport beverage carts, supplies, and equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, and occasionally noisy environment
