Job Title: Banquet Captain Company: The Palace at Somerset Park Reports To: Banquet Manager / Maître D Pay Range: $18 to $20 an hour based on experience Job Description: The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet event execution, including setup, service, and breakdown. This individual ensures that each event runs smoothly and upholds the highest service standards. The Banquet Captain leads by example, supports team members, and handles guest needs with professionalism, efficiency, and a personalized touch. This role is essential to creating memorable experiences and delivering seamless service during both weekday and weekend events. Responsibilities: - Oversee and supervise the full execution of banquet events.
- Coordinate and participate in the setup and breakdown of function rooms, ensuring all standards are met.
- Bus and set tables as needed and assist with buffet setup and teardown.
- Monitor and guide banquet servers and support staff, assigning stations and tasks appropriately.
- Conduct pre-function meetings to review event details, expectations, and assignments.
- Maintain full knowledge of event requirements from the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
- Ensure all areas are clean, organized, and set properly before guest arrival.
- Inspect uniforms and grooming of all staff before service begins.
- Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager, culinary team, and fellow supervisors regarding service flow and any adjustments.
- Monitor and restock buffet, coffee break, and reception areas as needed.
- Provide guests with timely, courteous, and customized service at all times.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints using established resolution procedures and report any unresolved issues.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, including shift reports and staff performance notes.
- Report tardiness, absenteeism, or disciplinary issues to management.
- Encourage a positive, team-oriented environment that enhances productivity and morale.
- Uphold cleanliness, safety standards, and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of local area services for guest assistance.
- Attend all staff meetings and contribute suggestions for service improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
