Job Summary
The Banquet Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to members and guests during club events, meetings, tournaments, weddings, and special functions. This position assists with banquet room setup and breakdown while ensuring a professional, efficient, and memorable experience for all guests.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with banquet room setup according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, glassware, silverware, and service equipment according to event specifications
- Greet members and guests promptly and professionally upon arrival
- Anticipates guest needs and proactively responds to requests.
- Take beverage orders and serve food and beverages within assigned stations
- Pour and replenish wine, water, coffee, and other beverages throughout events
- Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests
- Clear soiled dishes, glassware, and service items throughout the event
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, service stations, and assigned work areas
- Assist with event breakdown, including removing linens, dishes, glassware, silverware, and resetting rooms for future events
- Communicate any member or guest concerns to supervisors immediately
- Attend pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and staff meetings as required
- Support fellow team members to ensure seamless event execution
- Work collaboratively with banquet captains, culinary staff, and fellow team members
- Communicate effectively during event setup, service, and breakdown
- Adheres to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Comply with all local, state, and federal alcohol service regulations and club policies
- Understands emergency procedures and assigned responsibilities
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to club standards and policies
- Perform additional duties assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous banquet, restaurant, hospitality, catering, or private club experience preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment preferred
Critical Skills
- Provides prompt, courteous, and attentive service to members and guests
- Knowledge of banquet menus, ingredients, preparation methods, garnishes, and beverage offerings
- Basic knowledge of wine service and banquet beverage procedures
- Ability to explain menu items and answer guest questions
- Ability to execute various banquet service styles, including plated, buffet, family-style, and reception service
Schedule Requirements
- While this role offers flexibility, availability on weekends and holidays is expected to support Club operations
Training
- This role includes hands-on shadowing and mentorship with the Clubhouse Manager to ensure success and skill development
Travel Required
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach frequently
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot, humid, and occasionally noisy environment
