The Crowne Plaza Union Station is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Barista to join our hotel coffee bar team. The Barista will prepare quality coffee, smoothies, and other beverages, provide warm and welcoming service to hotel guests and customers, maintain a clean and organized coffee bar, and help create a pleasant guest experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Prepare and serve espresso drinks, brewed coffee, teas, smoothies, and other beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Greet hotel guests and customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Take orders accurately and process cash and credit card transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive coffee bar and guest area.
- Set up the coffee bar before opening and complete closing duties at the end of each shift.
- Prepare smoothies and ensure fresh ingredients are properly stored and stocked.
- Restock coffee, milk, smoothie ingredients, syrups, cups, food items, and other supplies as needed.
- Monitor inventory and communicate low-stock items to management.
- Follow proper food-safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures.
- Provide courteous service to hotel guests and assist with basic questions about the hotel and surrounding area.
- Handle multiple orders efficiently while maintaining beverage quality and excellent customer service.
- Assist with light food preparation, pastries, grab-and-go items, or breakfast service as needed.
- Operate and properly clean espresso machines, grinders, blenders, brewers, and other beverage equipment.
- Work cooperatively with hotel staff to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS - Previous barista, coffee shop, restaurant, hotel, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Friendly, positive, and professional personality.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized.
- Comfortable handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 25–30 pounds.
- Food-handler certification is a plus, where required.
- Barista or smoothie preparation experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
