Bartenders are responsible for preparing high-quality cocktails, providing polished bar service, and delivering a complete dining experience to guests seated at the bar. The ideal candidate is confident with classic and craft cocktails, knowledgeable about premium spirits, and capable of maintaining speed, accuracy, and professionalism during high-volume service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome bar guests promptly and provide attentive, professional service.
  • Prepare signature cocktails, classic cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and nonalcoholic beverages according to established recipes.
  • Maintain consistency in measurements, presentation, garnishing, glassware, and overall beverage quality.
  • Guide guests through cocktail, wine, spirit, and food selections.
  • Provide full-menu service to guests seated at the bar.
  • Make thoughtful recommendations and use suggestive selling to enhance the guest experience.
  • Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
  • Communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, modifications, and special requests to the kitchen and management.
  • Prepare and organize juices, syrups, garnishes, batches, and other bar ingredients before service.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout the shift.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of low-stock or unavailable products.
  • Assist with receiving, rotating, and properly storing beer, wine, liquor, and bar supplies.
  • Follow established portion-control procedures and help minimize waste and overpouring.
  • Process cash and credit-card payments accurately.
  • Check guest identification and follow all responsible alcohol-service laws.
  • Monitor guest consumption and notify management when alcohol service should be limited or discontinued.
  • Prepare drinks promptly for both bar guests and the restaurant’s service well.
  • Coordinate with servers, food runners, barbacks, and kitchen staff to maintain accurate and timely service.
  • Address guest concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed.
  • Complete all assigned opening, running, and closing duties.
  • Follow all company policies, sanitation standards, and workplace-safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional bartending experience is required.
  • At least four years of bartending experience in a full-service restaurant is preferred.
  • Upscale steakhouse, fine-dining, or craft-cocktail experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and maintain consistent beverage quality.
  • Strong communication, sales, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to provide polished food service to guests dining at the bar.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and guest-focused mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient during busy service periods.
  • Experience operating a restaurant POS system and accurately handling payments.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
  • Responsible alcohol-service and food-handler certifications may be required under local regulations.
