Applicants should demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching cheer at the high school level. An ideal candidate will understand the benefits of an educational interscholastic athletic experience with a specific focus on player growth and development. NYS certification in physical education or coaching license is required. Scarsdale School District is an equal opportunity employer, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.QUALIFICATIONS: Has the ability to assist in the organization and supervision of the baseball program.Has previous successful coaching experience in lacrosse.The assistant coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.The assistant coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. REPORTS TO:The Athletic Director and the Varsity and JV Head Coaches. JOB GOAL:To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Development & Player InstructionAssist the head coach in teaching fundamental skills, positional mechanics, and strategy to junior varsity student-athletes.Help plan and run daily practices, focusing on individual skill development, teamwork, and conditioning.Manage in-game duties as assigned by the head coach, such as coaching third base, managing the dugout, or charting pitches.Foster a positive, competitive, and supportive environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and athletic growth. Communication & CollaborationMaintain regular, open communication with the JV Head Coach and Varsity Head Coach to ensure program continuity.Represent the school and baseball program professionally when interacting with parents, opposing teams, and game officials.Has knowledge of all the athletic policies and Code of Conduct approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation.Enforces athletic conference rules, safety protocols, and policies...Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.Is accountable for all equipment and promotes respect for equipment and school property among players.
