Requirements / hard screens
- Active, unrestricted CA license — Licensed Psychologist, LCSW, or LMFT. Associate/registered credentials (ASW, AMFT, APCC, psych postdoc) do NOT qualify — Jen Simonds rejected a license-eligible PsyD on 7/18/26 for exactly this.
- Three years in a behavioral health program; adults, families, and children
- Working knowledge of and ability to relate to the Indigenous community
- EHR documentation (eClinicalWorks); BLS certification
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now or in the future — Chapa-De does not sponsor or transfer visas (Laura, 8/18/26). Screen on work authorization, never citizenship.
- RTR check: ask whether they applied to or interviewed with Chapa-De in the past 12 months. This burned us twice (Lindbloom 7/21, Whitaker 7/30).
- Credentialing ~45–60 days, complete before start
Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian applicants under the Indian Preference Act (Title 25 U.S.C. §472 & 473). In other than the above, an Equal Opportunity Employer. Benefit package subject to change at the employer's discretion.
