Description

Wissahickon Charter School is seeking Behavioral Support Team (BST) members. Behavioral Support Team members use a variety of strategies to improve specific behaviors and support students to greater independence and emotional stability. BST staff must be willing to work with students from K-8 with a variety of different needs. Candidates should have experience supporting students in classrooms and should also possess good track record of attendance and punctuality. Key ResponsibilitiesManage and support student's behavior across all environments of the school, including inclusion classes, transitions and recess.Provide one-on-one instruction and interventions in behavior/social skills.Maintain documentation including daily notes for primary studentsSolve problems on the spot Have ideas for changing behaviors in the long run Maintain sensitive, confidential informationWork collaboratively with the education teams Participate in relevant professional developmentQualificationsHigh School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelor's degree preferredExperience working with K-8 students; in an urban school-setting preferredExperience working with students receiving special education servicesAll applicable clearances required by law Ability to think and work flexibly Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniquesOutstanding behavioral management skills, including the ability to motivate a studentA strong sense of personal accountability for student achievementAbility to problem-solve Demonstrated professionalism and responsibility, and a strong work ethicA positive, high-energy attitude and a drive for personal excellenceReceptiveness to feedback, positive attitude, and a desire to continuously improveBelief in Wissahickon Charter Schools' mission, and the belief that all children can learn and succeedCompensation: This is an hourly position that pays a rate of $20/hour. The hours for the position are Monday-Friday, 8 am to 3:30 pm when school is in session. This position includes fully employer-paid medical, vision and dental benefits for the individual employee. About Wissahickon Charter SchoolWissahickon Charter School's first and current campus, Fernhill, opened in 2002 and serves 480 K-8 students from across Philadelphia. Our second K-8 campus, Awbury, opened in the fall of 2014.
