Bilingual Cashier Associate 

PAY RATE - $15.00 - $18.00

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will

• Assist with store open/close procedures
• Assist with product stocking and display
• Communicate effectively with clients,
• Follow cashier and cash handling procedures

This is a warehouse operation full of new and use building materials that are sold to the public in its 45000 square foot location in SE Baltimore City near Highlandtown. The warehouse redirects usable materials from the waste-stream and redistributes them low-cost to the community. “ you could build a house with what people throw away.”  This warehouse is the nation's first successful, self-sustaining non-profit material reuse center since 1984.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

            Cashiering/Administration

• Count in and out processes completed correctly
• Professional and courteous client service on the sales floor, throughout check-out process, and in all client communications.
• Neat, clean, and organized cashier's stations (all) including shelves in back and front.
• Communication with Floor Staff about Sold/Hold items, daily checks on Hold/Sold binder and phone messages.
• Scheduled bathroom cleaning.

Product Placement

• Stock and replenish assigned product sections
• Maintenance of product sections: sweeping, remove trash, check for current signage, safety
• Support Floor Staff by making signs for product as needed, continued updates and warehouse walks to ensure accuracy

Warehouse Support

• Assist floor Staff with warehouse projects
• Assist with offloading and stocking incoming product

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior retail, production, warehouse, material handling or customer service experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Building material knowledge
• Spanish speaking
• Forklift experience a plus ( sit-down propane) but not required
• Construction site experience a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dusty or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
