Medical Assistant

Locations: St. Petersburg, FL 33710, and Largo, FL 33777 

Schedule: Full-time, Up to 40 hours per week

Pay Range $16–$22 per hour

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our busy OB/GYN practice serving patients in St. Petersburg and Largo, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, maintain a professional appearance, and demonstrate a positive and energetic attitude while delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced women’s health environment.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Room patients, prepare them for examinations and procedures, and assist providers during visits 
  • Clinical Duties: Obtain and document vital signs, perform blood draws, collect specimens, and administer injections 
  • Provider Support: Assist OB/GYN providers during examinations and in-office procedures 
  • Medical Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the electronic health record (EHR) system 
  • Patient Experience: Provide compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced office environment 
  • Communication & Teamwork: Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff while supporting smooth clinic flow 
  • Organization & Compliance: Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms while following HIPAA and safety protocols 
  • Additional Support: Assist with front office and other clinical duties as needed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Healthcare Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office or healthcare administrative setting 
  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or completion of an accredited program resulting in a certificate or associate degree in Medical Assisting
  • Clinical Skills: Comfortable performing in-office blood draws and other basic clinical duties
  • Bilingual Skills: Bilingual in English and Spanish 
  • Organization & Teamwork: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a team 
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff at all levels 
  • Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers, EHR/EMR systems, and Microsoft Office applications 
  • Professionalism: Positive attitude, strong work ethic, punctuality, and compassionate approach to patient care 
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive situations professionally, and de-escalate when needed 
  • Commute: Ability to reliably commute to both office locations in St. Petersburg and Largo, FL 
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Women’s Health Experience: Prior OB/GYN or women’s health experience 
  • EHR Knowledge: Experience with ATHENAHEALTH

Schedule

  • Full-time 
  • 8-hour shift 
  • Day shift 
  • Monday – Friday
  • Extended evening hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays until 7:00 PM 
  • Training for this position will take place in the St. Petersburg office location
