Inspired by the courage of one another – as survivors,activists, advocates and community leaders, The Blue Bench has helped hundreds of thousands ofDenver-area individuals find the courage to move from victim to survivor.Job PurposeThe Blue Bench is seeking a Bilingual Part-Time On-Call Advocate to join the Client Services Team. TheBilingual On-Call Advocate responds to hospital advocacy calls from The Blue Bench 24/7 Crisis Hotlineto support individuals who have recently experienced a sexual assault with a particular emphasis onLatinx and Spanish-speaking communities. For this role, the delivery of services in Spanish is essential.This position serves as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, accompanying them during a forensicexam and offering non-judgmental support, psychoeducation, crisis emotional support, and informationabout The Blue Bench services and resources in the community.The ideal candidate is a trauma-informed and compassionate advocate, who is passionate aboutproviding emotional support to survivors while helping them identify and navigate their immediate andlonger-term needs and connecting them to appropriate services. They are able to stay centered andfocused in the midst of high emotion, remain survivor-centered while staying aligned with the mission ofthe agency. They are flexible and adaptable and have a strong commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppressionvalues.Essential Duties & Responsibilities• Be On-Call for hospital response from own phone and commit to a minimum of one (1)overnight (6:00pm – 6:00am) shift per week and one (1) weekend (Friday 6:00pm – Monday6:00am) shift per every 5 weeks.• Be On-Call for hospital response from own phone during holidays and any breaks when The BlueBench office is closed.• Respond to calls regarding recent sexual assault by providing in-person support to survivors atthe hospital within a timely manner (within 1 hour of request).• Provide survivors with information about their law enforcement reporting options as well asinformation about the forensic medical exam process.• Provide individual crisis stabilization, immediate support, information and/or referrals andresources in English and Spanish.• Maintain survivor confidentiality.• Work collaboratively and professionally with hospital and/or law enforcement staff or anycommunity partner to provide holistic care and support to survivors.• Complete the required forty (40) hours of Advocacy Training, eight (8) hours of HospitalResponse training, and any additional On-Call training.• Complete and submit Hospital Intake forms to supervisor for each survivor within 24 hours of ahospital call.• Work collaboratively with members of the On-Call team to ensure 24/7 Hospital Advocacycoverage.• Attend virtual monthly On-Call Team meetings on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 5:00pm –6:30pm.• Meet with the Lead Case Manager for peer support and additional training as necessary.• Meet with the Co-Director of Client Services: Advocacy for supervision and additional training asnecessary.• Complete administrative duties such as scheduling, time sheets, submitting for mileagereimbursement, keeping updated on protocols, etc.Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Advanced proficiency skills in English and Spanish required across the areas of speaking,listening, reading, and writing.• Experience working with and an understanding of sexual violence or other interpersonal trauma.• Must have a flexible schedule and ability to be on call for weekends, weeknight overnights, andholidays.• Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.• Have excellent verbal and written skills.• Ability to offer emotional support and crisis management for victims of sexual assault.• Knowledge of medical, psychological, educational, social services, legal and other communityresources.• Ability to collaborate with other victim service providers.• Understanding of cultural influences on behavior in multicultural communities. Must be open toworking with diverse communities.• Knowledge of the criminal legal system as it relates to sexual assault and sexual abuse victims.• Work collaboratively in a team setting.CompensationThis is a Part-Time Non-Exempt position, and the rate of pay is $6.50/hour for every hour spent on callnot responding to calls (waiting time), plus $25.25/hour for every hour spent providing direct services(working time) or attending meetings/trainings, etc. This rate of pay reflects an additional languageproficiency differential for this position.BenefitsPart-Time employees earn one (1) hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked and have access to TheBlue Bench Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for free counseling and support.
