Bilingual Pre-Kindergarden Aide

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Pre-Kindergarten Aide PAY GRADE: 302

REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher WORK DAYS: 183 Days

DEPT/SCHOOL: Elementary School DATE REVISED: 09/23

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED Meet NCLB by having one of the following:

Minimum of 48 hours of college coursework Documentation of passing an approved para educator assessment

Hold or apply for a state-standard educational aid certificate through the State Board of Educator Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work well with children Knowledge of general office equipment Ability to write and speak Spanish fluently

Minimum Experience:

Some experience with children

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Assist teacher in classroom instruction.
2. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials.
3. Assist in reinforcing discipline in the classroom.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES CONTINUED:

4. Monitor students in the hall, lunchroom, and restrooms.
5. Monitor student work and progress.
6. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and materials.
7. Administer oral language proficiency test.
8. Assist students with physical needs and personal care including bathroom needs, and personal hygiene, and changing diapers.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT USED:

Mental Demands:

Reading; communicating (verbal and written); maintaining emotional control in stressful situations; instructing students under teacher direction

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Normal Classroom environment
