Position Summary
The Bilingual Teacher provides standards-based instruction in both English and Spanish to support multilingual learners and promote academic achievement for all students. The teacher creates an inclusive learning environment that values students'' linguistic and cultural backgrounds while delivering high-quality instruction aligned with Wisconsin Academic Standards. The position requires collaboration with families, colleagues, and support staff to ensure equitable educational opportunities for diverse learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in English and the designated partner language.
- Implement district curriculum aligned with Wisconsin Academic Standards.
- Support bilingualism, biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competence.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional supports for multilingual learners.
- Maintain a positive, culturally responsive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and respect.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, school counselors, and administrators.
- Communicate regularly with families in their preferred language whenever possible.
- Participate in IEP, Section 504, multilingual learner, and other student support meetings as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and required documentation.
- Integrate instructional technology to enhance learning.
- Participate in professional learning and district initiatives.
- Perform supervision duties and other responsibilities assigned by the building principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Wisconsin teaching license or eligibility for Wisconsin licensure.
- Appropriate bilingual/bicultural and/or English Learner licensure or certification preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and the designated partner language, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Knowledge of second-language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in bilingual, dual-language immersion, or multilingual education programs.
- Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development Standards.
- Experience using instructional technology and student data systems.
- Training in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equitable instructional practices.
