BIM / VDC Modeler/Coordinator

Position Overview

The VDC Modeler / Coordinator will serve as the company's primary BIM/VDC resource, overseeing model coordination, clash detection, BIM execution planning, and modeling standards across active projects. This individual will collaborate with engineering, project management, preconstruction, fabrication, and field teams while serving as the main point of contact for external coordination with general contractors, consulting engineers, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead BIM and VDC efforts across multiple commercial HVAC and plumbing projects.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce BIM standards, Revit templates, and content libraries.
• Manage project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and coordination workflows.
• Conduct clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks Manage.
• Facilitate and lead multi-trade coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
• Support preconstruction teams with conceptual modeling, design-assist deliverables, and model-based project pursuits.
• Maintain and optimize fabrication-level modeling standards utilizing SysQue or similar MEP fabrication software.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
• Perform model quality assurance reviews and identify coordination issues before construction.
• Manage Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360) workflows, model sharing, and document control processes.
• Provide BIM training, mentorship, and support to internal project teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including reality capture, laser scanning, prefabrication solutions, and AI-driven coordination tools.
• Serve as the company's BIM/VDC representative during project coordination with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and trade partners.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of BIM, VDC, or MEP modeling experience within the commercial construction industry.
• Must have direct experience supporting commercial MEP, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical contracting projects.
• Demonstrated success leading BIM coordination efforts on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Experience working in design-build and design-assist project environments.
• History of creating and enforcing BIM standards, workflows, and modeling best practices.
• Experience interacting directly with general contractors, engineering firms, and trade partners during project coordination.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP)
• Advanced proficiency in Navisworks Manage
• Strong experience with SysQue, Autodesk Fabrication, CADmep, MAP, or similar fabrication modeling platforms
• Experience utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360)
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems
• Knowledge of constructability reviews, clash detection, and multi-trade coordination practices
• Ability to develop and implement BIM standards across an organization
