The Apprentice program combines the educational component of the Bioprocessing Apprenticeship with credit-bearing coursework at Middlesex College, with industry-focused, non-credit certificate training designed to prepare apprentices for careers in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and bioprocessing. Our Apprenticeship Program is an industry-driven training model that combines paid on-the-job learning with classroom instruction.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Bioprocessing Apprentice will work with the wider Manufacturing team to support the production of biological products at the MFG18 Cranbury facility. This role will be responsible for procedures and processes associated with the manufacture of Drug Substance, including but not limited to media preparation, cell culture, buffer preparation, and purification.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining a safety-oriented culture and cGMP-compliant work environment, ensuring the highest Quality & Compliance standards.
• Assist as a member of the Production team, towards the delivery of production output targets and quality levels on schedule.
• Carry out all production operations in the assigned area as directed by the relevant Standard Operating Procedures and Manufacturing Batch Records.
• Support MFG efforts in Continuous Improvement using Lean/Six Sigma tools as part of daily operations (Standard Work, TPM, 5S, Method 1, 2 etc.)
• Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and controlled documents
• Immediately notify the Supervisor or Senior Team Member of any deviation from SOPs and/or deviations in the standard production process
• Perform housekeeping duties as assigned to maintain facility at a high standard.
• Complete all training in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all safety policies, procedures and regulations
• Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the MFG Supervisor.
• Shift work is required. The shift pattern may be varied according to business requirements and will typically require weekend working
• Will be flexible to take overtime work and may work during holidays.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to actively participate in a qualified apprentice program, requiring both hands-on job training and classroom-based coursework.
• Basic understanding of bioprocessing/biotechnology or biopharmaceutical manufacturing
• Ability to work within and adapt to complex electronic systems

Onerous requirements

• This role may initially follow a different schedule to support onboarding and training but will migrate to a permanent shift schedule as per business requirement

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $20-28hr
