    Job Description

    Purpose:   To operate machinery in a manner that maximizes production and efficiency.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Requires accurate completion of paperwork related to the job.
    • Requires the lockout of equipment before set-up disassembly.
    • Ensure proper Quality Control release and raw material tickets as required.
    • Climbing up and down platform, must make sure that the product specifications are met for the meat blend of products.
    • Operator must acquire a sample of meat and insert it into a stainless steel canister for testing fat content.
    • Approximately 40 to 50 pounds of pressure on the contents of Anyl-Ray canister is required to prepare the sample for testing.
    • Calibration and addition of fate to meet requirements of product specification as needed. 
    • Good math skills and calculations. 
    • Partially used raw materials returned to cooler must properly ticketed.
    • Ability to read and write English required.
     
    Blender operator: communicate with scale auger operator for transfer of meat to blender.  Have knowledge of proper blending procedures for all products.
     
     
    Working Conditions:
    Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
    Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical.  Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.
    Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant.  Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present.  The noise level is high and constant.  Floors are damp and slick.
    Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
     
    Knowledge:
    • To strive to meet all daily ship schedules.
    • Know metal detector policy and proper handling of product.
    • To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.
    • Know and understand how to keep area clean.
    • To have an up to date inventory of packing supplies.
    • Have knowledge of sanitation procedures.
    • Be willing to rotate jobs.
    • Know and understand good manufacturing practices.
    • Know and understand safety guidelines.
    • Know and understand lockout/tag out procedures.
    • Other jobs as assigned.
     
    Education and Work Experience:  High school education or equivalent preferred.  Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.  Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
