Description
The Prairie du Chien School District is accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher Assistant beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
Reports to the Director of Special Education (3-12).
Qualification:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent; preference may be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.
Certified or willing to become DPI certified with a Special Education Program Aide License 883 (will be reimbursed by the district.)
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to work well with and assist all children including those with disabilities.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Must attend training as assigned (face-to-face and on-line).
Must uphold and enforce school rules.
Must be willing to assist students with physical care.
Must be willing to assist in crisis intervention.
Must be willing to assist in supervising the students throughout the school day both within and outside of the school building.
Must be willing to collaborate with other staff.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Must notify of absence in an appropriate manner.
Must be willing to drive a school van.
Any other duties as assigned.
