Description

The Prairie du Chien School District is accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher Assistant beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

Reports to the Director of Special Education (3-12).

Qualification:

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent; preference may be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.

• Certified or willing to become DPI certified with a Special Education Program Aide License 883 (will be reimbursed by the district.)

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

• Must be able to work well with and assist all children including those with disabilities.

• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Must attend training as assigned (face-to-face and on-line).

• Must uphold and enforce school rules.

• Must be willing to assist students with physical care.

• Must be willing to assist in crisis intervention.

• Must be willing to assist in supervising the students throughout the school day both within and outside of the school building.

• Must be willing to collaborate with other staff.

• Must maintain confidentiality.

• Must notify of absence in an appropriate manner.

• Must be willing to drive a school van.

• Any other duties as assigned.
