McLean is a Life Plan community committed to caring for people and caring for nature. We were founded thanks to the generosity and foresight of Senator George McLean over 55 years ago. We have Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing residents on our 110-acre campus. We also house the McLean Center of Wellness, which includes Outpatient Rehabilitation. We have a Homecare and Hospice Agency, and an Adult Day Program. We steward over 4,400 acres of land with 28 miles of hiking trails at the McLean Game Refuge.

Pay Rate: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour

Hours: 20 hours - flexible within the M-F work week - some weekends hours as department needs

Location: Simsbury, CT

We are looking for someone to join our Wellness Team!

The right candidate should:

• Certified Personal Trainer (required)
• CPR & AED Certification (required)
• Experience or interest in working with older adults
• Group Fitness Instruction experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organizational and administrative skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible team player
• Willingness to assist with wellness programs and events
• Availability to work weekends as needed

POSITION SUMMARY: Works with the Boundless wellness team to implement and facilitate engaging programs and services geared toward meeting a variety of resident needs, with a balance of productive leisure, Physical fitness, recreational and educational activities recognizing the individuality of each resident.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Collaborates with residents to provide an environment that meets the social and activity needs of our residents and community members.

2. Develops and implements well rounded opportunities for engagement, meaningful pursuits, social interaction, growth learning, fun and enjoyment,

3. Works with volunteers, staff, and community resources.

4. Includes evening and weekend programming opportunities.

5. Embrace the philosophy that activity and engagement promote a sense of wellness and reduces isolation.

6. Leads Physical fitness related activities including group exercise and personal training.

7. Provides wellness education and coaching related to individual physical health and wellness goals.

8. Drives vehicles as needed for resident functions.

9. Works with Village team members to promote a safe and welcoming environment.

10. Supports atmosphere conducive to independence.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver's License, Fitness training certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM) or medical/ wellness coaching certification required. CPR and AED certified. Specialty certification (Zumba gold, yoga, step, aquatics) highly preferred. Nutrition certification is a bonus. Minimum 1 year of experience in fitness education and wellness promotion. Qualified for F Category License a plus.
