Job Description

The Box Office Assistant serves as a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional point of contact for guests attending events at the Maltz Performing Arts Center (MPAC). As one of the first people guests encounter, this position plays an important role in creating a positive experience from the moment patrons arrive through the end of the event.

Box Office Assistants support event operations by preparing the box office and lobby, assisting guests with ticketing and general questions, addressing concerns, and providing excellent customer service.

Events take place on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, and this position requires flexibility to work a variety of event schedules.

Starting salary: $13.50/hour with yearly raises

Federal Work Study Not Required

Hours: Flexible, Nights, Weekends

In-Person, on-site

They are attentive to what is happening around them, communicate clearly, respond to problems quickly and professionally, and understand that they are an important part of the guest experience at the Maltz Performing Arts Center.

  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when handling difficult or unexpected situations.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and know when to resolve an issue independently and when to escalate it.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling ticketing and financial transactions.

  • Ability to learn and follow Maltz Performing Arts Center and Case Western Reserve University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to learn ticketing systems, event procedures, and venue operations.

  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy event environment.

  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with a variety of event-related duties.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and varying event schedules.

  • Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods during events.

  • Previous customer service, box office, theater, performing arts, hospitality, or event experience is helpful but not required.
