Service Center Hours of Operation: Monday through Thursday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM and Friday 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Shifts are based around the hours of operation

Position Overview:

The Member Advocate serves as a welcoming and trusted financial guide for credit union members. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional service through teller and platform functions, ensuring every member interaction is positive, informative, and aligned with their financial goals. The Member Advocate fosters a supportive environment where financial conversations are approachable and empowering, while also promoting credit union products and services. As a community connector, Member Advocates help grow the credit union's presence by participating in local events, volunteering, and building relationships. In some locations, based upon business need, this role may be required to be bilingual in Spanish, Creole, or other languages.

Job Description:

Greet and assist members in a courteous, professional, and timely manner\nListen to member needs, provide accurate information, and deliver effective solutions\nEnsure a welcoming environment that encourages open financial discussions\nProcess daily financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and account inquiries\nMaintain and balance cash drawer in accordance with credit union policies\nVerify identification, endorsements, and signatures while adhering to regulatory standards\nSecure negotiable items and confidential records at all times\nIdentify opportunities to refer members to additional products and services\nOpen new accounts and input loan applications with accuracy and compliance\nPerform account maintenance, resolve discrepancies, and reconcile errors\nPresent and explain options for share, retirement, fiduciary, and negotiable deposit accounts\nEnsure all regulatory requirements are met during account and loan processes\nCross-sell financial solutions based on member needs\nServe as a product ambassador, sharing the benefits of product offerings and helping members make informed choices\nConduct member interviews to assess loan qualifications and gather necessary documentation\nInput and process consumer and mortgage loan requests in accordance with underwriting guidelines\nCommunicate clearly with members throughout the loan application and disbursement process\nRepresent the credit union at local events and initiatives to build relationships and promote services\nProvide budget and debt counseling to support members' financial wellness\nIdentify referral opportunities and connect members with affiliated partners such as Suncoast Investment Services\nProvide coverage across the branch network within the district or region as needed

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience with a financial institution or similar customer service experience (Attainment of a bachelor's degree or other internally approved certification may be substituted for previous work experience)\nGeneral math proficiency to balance cash drawer, audit own work, and reconcile accounts\nAbility to work under moderate supervision\nAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality

This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). The employee will obtain a unique identifier from the registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities. The employee must maintain and renew the registration annually, provide updated registration information with the registry on a timely basis, and provide a unique identifier to consumers as required by applicable SAFE Act regulations and Suncoast Credit Union policies and procedures.
