Job Summary

We are seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon with fellowship training or significant experience in Breast Surgery to join an established, multidisciplinary breast cancer program in York, Pennsylvania.

This position focuses on providing comprehensive surgical care to patients with breast cancer and other breast conditions in a collaborative, community-based setting. The surgeon will work closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, genetics, nurse navigation, rehabilitation, and other specialists to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.

The position also offers the opportunity to take on a leadership/directorship role within the cancer program, allowing the physician to help shape and advance breast cancer services in the region.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and provide surgical treatment for patients with breast cancer and other breast diseases.
• Perform a full range of breast surgical procedures.
• Incorporate oncoplastic surgical techniques when appropriate.
• Utilize breast ultrasound as part of patient evaluation and procedural care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary breast cancer treatment planning and case discussions.
• Collaborate closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors, nurse navigators, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease stage, patient preferences, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative management and long-term surgical follow-up.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, surgical options, treatment plans, recovery, and ongoing care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continued development of breast cancer services.
• Share breast surgery call responsibilities with the surgical team; general surgery call is not required.
• Potentially serve in a leadership or directorship capacity within the cancer program.

Qualifications / Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency.
• Board Certification in General Surgery required.
• Fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology/Breast Surgery preferred, or significant demonstrated breast surgery experience.
• Strong clinical experience managing patients with breast cancer and other breast conditions.
• Experience with oncoplastic breast surgery is highly desirable.
• Breast ultrasound training/certification or willingness to obtain appropriate certification.
• Current Pennsylvania medical license or eligibility to obtain licensure before starting.
• Eligible for hospital medical staff privileges and credentialing.
• Strong surgical, clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary oncology team.
• Commitment to high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered breast cancer care.
• Leadership experience or interest in program development is desirable.
