    Job Description

    United Community Bank is looking for a BSA/AML Analyst. This position will perform BSA/AML monitoring, research, customer due diligence, investigations, regulatory filing preparation, and case documentation. Escalates suspicious or higher risk activity to the BSA/AML Risk Manager.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Alert Review: Review and disposition transaction monitoring, sanctions, currency activity, structuring and related alerts under approved procedures
    • Investigations: Reserch customer profiles, ownership, account activity, transaction history, internal records, and available public information to identify unusual activity
    • Case Documentation: Prepare clear and defensible workpapers describing the activity, research, evidence, analysis, and basis for disposition or escalation
    • Regulatory Filings: Prepare CTR's, SAR recommendations and narratives, and continuing activity review support within required timeframes while maintaining SAR confidentiality
    • Customer Due Diligence: Complete risk-rating reviews, beneficial ownership verification, periodic reviews, and EDD for assigned high-risk customers
    • Information Requests: Assist with authorized sanction reviews, 314(a) searches, subpoenas, law-enforcement requests, and required records
    • Qualtiy and Records: Meet accuracy, productivity, and aging standards: correct errors and retain complete support in approved systems
    • FRAML Coordination: Refer fraud, identity theft, money mule, or account compromise indicators to Fraud while preserving SAR confidentiality
    • Escalation: Promptly escalate suspicious activity, possible structuring, sanction matches, incomplete customer information, or data-quality concerns
    • Training: Complete required training and maintain current knowledge of relevant typologies and regulatory developments
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels by proactively participating and contributing to a positive work environment, controlling emotions and temperament, and exhibiting courteous, respectful, and professional behavior at all times
    • Maintain familiarity with bank products and services
    • Maintain familiarity with and uphold all Bank policies and procedures including policies and procedures related to this position
    • Other related duties as assigned

    Computer Requirements:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)
    • Fiserv Premier and Web Director experience is a plus
    • Able to navigate monitoring, case management, core, and research systems: Nasdag Verafin experience preferred

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred: equivalent experience may be considered
    • Two or more years of banking operations, compliance, BSA/AML, fraud, audit, or investigation experience preferred

    Additional Requirements:

    • Working knowledge of BSA/AML, CDD/EDID, suspicious activity monitoring, CTR's, and SAR's and confidentiality requirements
    • Previous customer service skills preferred
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to practice discretion and handle confidential information in a professional manner
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and comprehend the level of confidentiality that comes along with the position and protecting employee's, customer's and bank information
    • Problem Solving/Analysis skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and coworkers
    • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to work situations
    • Ability to manage and execute more than one task at a time
    • Ability to independently perform duties, establish priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision
    • Ability to adhere to safety and compliance regulations and procedures
    • Ability to explain the benefits of bank products and services and answer customer questions regarding these products and services
    • Knowledge of financial institution regulations
    • Ability to exercise sound judgement that is consistent with established policies, procedures and business practices
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

    Attendance Requirements:

    Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided. Shifts may vary to fit the needs of the department. Additional availability may be required for significant finanical crime events, filing deadlines, or examinations.

    Certificates, licenses, or registrations:

    • None required but are valued
    • CAMS is preferred for career prograssion

    Working Conditions:

    This job operates in a clerical setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical requirements:

    • Ability to potentially sit for up to 8 hours
    • Requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary
    • Requires the ability to hear, speak and/or signal people
    • Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and in English
    • Requires manual dexterity, typing, and the ability to key in transactions
    • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
