Ideal candidates share our company values of Always Going the Extra Mile, Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, Driving Change, and Taking Initiative.Overview:We are seeking an experienced Controls Project Manager with a strong background in managing control systems projects and hands-on experience with smart building controls. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of controls projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires excellent project management skills, technical expertise in smart building controls, and the ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at coordinating with various construction trades to ensure seamless project integration and execution.Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage client engagement, product purchasing, budgeting, installation, logistics, and rebate facilitation for approved projects.
  • Complete management of base scope projects.
  • Manage challenges that arise throughout the course of a project.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with all stakeholders, including property managers, building owners, building engineers and staff, subcontractors, manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate effective internal project handoff.
  • Drive internal communication on overall project management progress for assigned projects.
  • Plan, manage, and report on projects and status.
  • Gain proficiency in all project management systems and tools, including Salesforce and proprietary proposal tools.
  • Negotiate labor pricing and site assignments for go-back work.
  • Manage Labor Partners for all installation activities.
  • Review, approve, and complete all project documentation by the task due dates.
  • Close out all customer billing and Labor Partner invoicing tasks on time.
  • Track project go-backs to ensure timely and effective completion and go-back reduction.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators for customer pre- and post-calls.
  • Communicate all change order activities to account management and customers.
  • Manage all change order tasks with the goal of maintaining the established Project GM.
  • Identify and recommend incremental project resource needs to the manager to address unanticipated scope or deadline changes.
  • Maintain and monitor project financials and profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to convey complex topics clearly and succinctly to individuals with varying degrees of technological knowledge and backgrounds.
  • Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between different trade teams to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Collaborative personality and strong team player.
  • Understanding of project and program financials.
  • Strong and proficient in customer communication.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience presenting project plans to customers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and OneNote for tracking and analysis.
  • Detail-oriented, with a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and hold others accountable for deliverables.
  • Financial management aptitude.
  • Customer/client focus.
Education:
  • A four-year degree is preferred in business, electrical engineering, construction management, mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in controls project management.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and energy management solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management software and control systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with construction plans required.
Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Project Managers often support customers and partners during "off hours" and, therefore, are expected to be available for support on some weekends and evenings/nights.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, may require extended on-site project management.
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
