Job Summary:
As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and supports facility operations by providing preventive maintenance and repair services on building equipment and systems.
The work environment primarily consists of lab spaces and clean rooms where proper PPE is required before entering lab areas.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems while ensuring facility systems meet applicable standards.
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Maintain an energy management program to ensure building systems operate in the most efficient manner.
Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
Perform emergency repairs as needed to maintain facility operations.
Follow departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
Review inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure systems operate within design capabilities and meet environmental requirements.
Apply in-depth knowledge of standard engineering and maintenance principles to accomplish complex assignments and provide solutions.
Coach team members and share knowledge within the engineering and technical services function.
Lead by example and demonstrate behaviors aligned with organizational values while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Communicate complex or sensitive operational information clearly to stakeholders.
Typical Daily Responsibilities:
Changing filters
Replacing belts on equipment
Performing preventive maintenance (PMs)
Filling work orders
General facility maintenance
Moving or assembling furniture
Patching and painting
Required Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience
In lieu of a diploma, a combination of education and experience will be considered
Meet physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and lifting or carrying loads of 50 lbs or more
Ability to analyze multiple sources of information and exercise sound judgment
Organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
Strong mathematical skills including calculations involving percentages and fractions
Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred
