• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension)
• Pay Rate: $31.00 $32.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)

Job Summary

As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This is a temporary backfill support role while a team member is out on leave. The position is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience with critical building systems and preventative maintenance. Because the building is currently vacant, the focus is entirely on maintaining equipment and infrastructure rather than responding to tenant requests. The Hiring Manager is open to candidates with strong mechanical aptitude who may have limited direct experience but are willing to learn. Outdoor maintenance responsibilities are part of the role, including parking lot lighting and property upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on critical building systems
• Support operation and maintenance of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, generators, and air handling units
• Complete scheduled maintenance activities through the work order system
• Maintain exterior portions of the property, including several acres of grounds
• Perform lighting repairs and electrical maintenance in parking areas
• Assist with tree trimming and basic outdoor maintenance needs
• Monitor building equipment and identify maintenance concerns before failures occur

Required Skills

• Knowledge of electrical systems, including basic 110-volt electrical work
• Experience working with chillers, boilers, air handling units (AHUs), and cooling towers
• Basic computer and keyboard skills
• Ability to learn and navigate a computerized work order management system
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Basic computer proficiency
• Self-starter who can work independently

Preferred Skills

• Experience maintaining mechanical equipment
• Experience maintaining electrical equipment

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Trade school education preferred

Required Experience

• 0 2 years of relevant building maintenance, mechanical, or engineering experience

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Commercial office building that is currently vacant
• No tenant service calls or tenant-generated work orders
• Primary focus is maintaining building infrastructure and mechanical systems
• Preventative maintenance-focused environment
• Equipment includes: Chillers, Boilers, Generators, Cooling Towers, Air Handling Units (AHUs), and building electrical systems
• Overtime may be required

• Background check required: CBRE Safety Specific Package with Drug Test and State Farm 10-year Package
• Interview process: 1st Round in-person interview onsite with the Hiring Manager
• Training will be provided as needed for client-specific applications used on the job
• The Hiring Manager is seeking a mechanically inclined maintenance professional with foundational knowledge of electrical systems and commercial building equipment; candidates who enjoy hands-on work, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting both building systems and exterior property maintenance will be a strong fit
