Job Description Summary

Building HVAC technician is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that control indoor temperature and air quality. Operating at the crossroads of electrical work, mechanics, and plumbing, these professionals ensure systems run efficiently while safely handling complex refrigerants and combustion equipment.

Job Description

Core Job Responsibilities

• System Installation: Assembling and setting up furnaces, air conditioning units, heat pumps, and ductwork.
• Routine Maintenance: Testing basic functions, checking refrigerant lines, cleaning coils, and replacing filters to keep systems running safely.
• Diagnostics & Repairs: Troubleshooting electrical wiring faults, replacing faulty compressors, or tracking down airflow blockages
• Automation Management: Interfacing with computer-managed Building Automation Systems (BAS) to calibrate sensors and maximize facility energy efficiency.

Specialized Technical Skills

• Electrical Aptitude: Reading complex wiring diagrams and tracking power loads.
• Mechanical Know-How: Tuning moving parts like heavy-duty fans, belts, pulleys, and motor systems.
• Plumbing & Piping: Managing condensate drain lines, refrigerant pipes, and system water loops.
• Chiller/Tower experience a plus

Licensing & Training Requirements

• EPA Section 608 Certification
• Trade Education: hold a high school diploma or GED, complete 6 to 24 months of formal postsecondary education for HVAC (or a 3–5 year apprenticeship),
• Local State Licenses: Preferred and/or 10 years’ experience

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $39.23 - $46.15
