Position Title: Building Service Team Member

Position Summary:

The Building Services Team is responsible for two basic functions within the Memorial Union, Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center, Carol Chapel, and Bianchino Pavilion; (1) Event set up and tear down crew and (2) Assist custodian staff in maintaining the facility.

Essential Functions:
Complete meeting room set up, tear down, and cleaning.
Complete audio/visual technical set up, operation of, tear down, and cleaning.
Respond to requests or assistance from customers.
Perform general cleaning of equipment and furniture.
Perform all custodial and maintenance duties as required for scheduled shifts per the daily duties and standards set by the Memorial Union, Washburn University and OSHA health and safety regulations.
Maintain exterior entrances to facility by removing snow, ice and debris when necessary.
Ensure the safety and security of the Union, its employees, and customers through the proper enforcement of all policies and procedures established by the Memorial Union, Washburn University, and the State of Kansas.
Have the ability to communicate effectively, be attentive to detail, follow directions efficiently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and contribute to the overall development of the team.
Performs additional job related duties as assigned.
All the above are per standards or diagrams provided by the Memorial Union Director or Facilities Manager, and University Scheduling Office.

Required Qualifications:
Washburn University or Washburn Technical registered student with at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits per semester, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to lift and move furniture and equipment up to fifty pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with communication, maintenance, event set up/tear down, customer service and/or custodial duties.
CPR and/or First aid certified
