BIRMINGHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATION

POSITION:

Building Substitute LOCATION: Pierce Elementary

SALARY: $150/day (Edustaff) POSTING DATE: September 9, 2026 DEADLINE: Until Filled

SCHEDULE: Full time, School Schedule START DATE: To Be Determined

The Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a building substitute teacher. Building substitute teachers will report to the building on a full-time basis to provide coverage for classrooms and assist with other support to building administrators and teachers as needed. Applicants will be employed through Edustaff, our educational services staffing partner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 60 college credits required and be eligible to obtain a Daily Substitute Permit from the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS).
• Valid Michigan Teaching certificate and previous teaching experience preferable, but not required.
• Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft, Google Suite, Clevertouch Boards
• Ability to work effectively with students
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle varying assignments, grade levels and subjects

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement substitute instructions and assessments
• Attention to the individual needs of students
• Effective use of materials, resources and interventions for all students
• Leverage technology purposefully within program delivery
• Standards of behavior that serve as models for students
