    Job Description

    MINIMUM AGE: 18 years of age

    HOURS OF WORK: Part-time position located at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center; The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is a 7-day operation. Day, Evening and Weekend shifts are required. Employee must be able to work at least 10 hours per week but maximum allotted hours per week is 28. Schedule is dependent upon events and other activities of the Center.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    An employee in this position supervises facility operations. They assist the Manager on Duty for all Center operations, guest services, classes, programs and events. The Building Supervisor will report to the Center's Enforcement Officer and will assist in policy and procedure enforcement. The facility is open early morning to late evening seven days a week.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (functions essential to attaining job objectives):

    • Supervises staff, programs, activities, and additional services as provided, including the day-to day operations.
    • Assists the Center Enforcement Officer with security.
    • Ability to learn department's Registration Software Program for assisting at Service Desk as needed.
    • Oversees building facilities and grounds.
    • Ensures facility cleanliness.
    • Monitors and responds to disruptive and unauthorized activities, including excessive noise, loitering, theft, and destruction of Center property.
    • Opens and/or secures facility at closing.
    • Ability to provide tours of the facility, as needed.
    • Assists with room set-ups, as needed.
    • Performs related functions as assigned.
    • Ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Demonstrated personal character, temperament and judgment to effectively respond to incidents directly, or report them to police or other authority as appropriate.
    • Strong verbal skills, customer service orientation and the ability to interact with patrons, (including young children, adolescents and teens) in a respectful, yet firm manner.
    • The duties require a responsible, mature, and dependable individual with considerable public contact experience.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, to learn assigned tasks, and to apply rules appropriately and consistently.
    • Ability to prepare written reports and records.
    • Must be able to engage in frequent standing and patrolling on foot.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Prior security-related public contact experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of computer business applications.
    • High school graduation or GED certificate required.
    • Must submit to a criminal history check (including sex offender registry if applicable), pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
