    Reports To: Retail Store Manager
    Department: Retail Store – Building Value
    About Building Value
    Building Value is an Easterseals Redwood social enterprise that gives reusable building materials a second life. By salvaging and selling reusable materials, we help protect the environment, reduce disposal costs, support the local workforce, and make unique architectural materials available to the community.
    We are looking for a Retail Cashier who enjoys working with customers, staying organized, and being part of a team. This position is more than operating a cash register—you'll help customers find merchandise, schedule pickups and deliveries, learn about unique donated materials, and contribute to the day-to-day success of our retail store.
    What You'll Do
    • Operate the cash register and accurately process cash and credit card transactions.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area.
    • Assist customers with locating merchandise throughout the store.
    • Schedule customer pickups and deliveries while collecting all necessary information.
    • Learn and become familiar with merchandise classifications and products throughout the store.
    • Develop knowledge of items such as sinks, cabinets, lumber, appliances, and other building materials.
    • Assist with researching donated items to identify materials, determine relevant information, and support accurate pricing and posting.
    • Help clean, organize, move, and arrange merchandise throughout the store.
    • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and work assigned schedules, including overtime when needed.
    • Provide professional and friendly customer service.
    • Represent Easterseals Redwood and Building Value positively when interacting with customers and community members.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    What We're Looking For
    The ideal candidate is someone who is dependable, customer-focused, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
    Qualifications include:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Basic math skills and the ability to accurately complete transactions.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
    • Willingness to learn about a wide variety of building materials and merchandise.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and job responsibilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Reliable transportation to and from work and for required out-of-building duties.
    Physical & Working Requirements
    This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks associated with a retail environment, including:
    • Bending, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and twisting.
    • Moving and organizing merchandise.
    • Lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds or exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
    • Working in both indoor and outdoor environments depending on job responsibilities.
    • Working around moderate noise and varying seasonal temperatures when performing duties outside.

    Training & Additional Requirements
    Employees are required to participate in initial orientation and periodic training provided by Easterseals Redwood, as well as any training required by agency policies or applicable regulations.
    Additional requirements may include:
    • CPR/First Aid training.
    • Acceptable criminal background check.
    • Child Abuse & Neglect Registry check.
    • Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry check.
