TITLE: Bus Driver DUTY DAYS: Full time
PAY: $25.00 per hour FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B)
Must be 18 years of age.
Ability to pass alcohol and drug tests.
Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of student discipline procedures
Ability to manage student behavior.
Ability to operate bus.
JOB GOAL: Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students. Operate school bus that transports students
and other personnel to field trips and athletic contests. This position is for a driver that transports
students to athletic events, field trips, and dual credit classes. This is not a route based position and
will not require the driver to transport students from school to home or from home to school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vehicle Operation
Drive the bus to and from extracurricular activities.
Follow assigned routes and adhere to established schedules.
Check bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
Student Management
Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
Communicate with teachers and administration regarding student behavior while on the bus.
Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
Safety
Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
Inspect the bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure the bus can be operated safely before driving.
Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
Report any hazardous conditions along the route.

Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office.
Work irregular hours as needed.
Attend and complete required training program to maintain safety certification.
Keeps records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.
