Business Analyst (Financial Systems)

This is a 12-month contract role based in McLean, Virginia, supporting financial systems analysis and traceability assessment for a multifamily lending platform. You will work to establish clear connections between credit policy requirements and their implementation within the application, identifying gaps and opportunities for improved governance and automation.

Responsibilities

• Establish requirement-level traceability between Multifamily Credit Policy and myOptigo platform functionality
• Analyze implementation and enforcement through business rules, decision logic, UI validations, workflow controls, data-entry requirements, field-level restrictions, automated underwriting, eligibility determinations, funding and delivery controls, Credit Policy Exception (CPE) processing, document requirements, system-generated conditions, workflow status transitions, and approval requirements
• Review Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, system documentation, business requirements, application artifacts, and other available evidence
• Collaborate with application subject-matter experts, developers, architects, product owners, underwriting specialists, and business stakeholders to understand system behavior
• Determine whether policy requirements are fully implemented, partially implemented, minimally implemented, manually controlled, or not implemented
• Document evidence supporting each traceability determination
• Identify gaps and inconsistencies between intended policy requirements and actual system implementation
• Identify areas where requirements currently rely on manual rather than system-enforced controls
• Support assessment of opportunities for improved traceability, governance, and future automation
• Participate in peer review and quality assurance to ensure complete, consistent, and accurate traceability

Qualifications

• Required

• 3+ years of business analyst and/or systems analyst experience

• 1+ year of multifamily lending experience

• Understanding of the multifamily loan market, including underwriting processes and underwriting standards

• Strong experience with business and systems requirements analysis

• Experience analyzing application business rules, decision logic, workflows, validations, integrations, and/or system controls

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket

• Technical knowledge of Java and ability to understand Java-based application artifacts sufficiently for systems analysis

• Technical knowledge of AMQ/JMS and message-driven architecture

• Ability to translate between business/credit requirements and technical implementation

• Strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills

• Preferred

• Experience with microservice-based architecture

• Experience with multifamily underwriting, origination, credit, or servicing platforms

• Experience tracing business, policy, regulatory, or control requirements to technology implementation

• Familiarity with source-code repositories and application architecture

• Experience assessing automated versus manual controls

• Multifamily underwriting knowledge in Conventional, TAH, Student Housing, Seniors Housing, and/or Manufactured Housing

• Experience in regulated financial-services environments
