POSITION OVERVIEW
Expected Deliverables
  • Business needs, scope, stakeholder, and discovery documentation
  • Current-state and future-state process maps, swimlanes, and supporting narratives
  • Business, functional, non-functional, data, reporting, integration, control, privacy, and security requirements
  • Epics, features, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and business rules
  • Requirements traceability matrix and requirement/change-control records
  • Functional models, decision tables, context diagrams, data/interface mapping, and exception scenarios
  • Workshop agendas, pre-reads, meeting notes, decision logs, action logs, issue/risk inputs, and follow-up materials
  • Test scenarios, expected results, test-coverage reviews, defect-analysis support, and business acceptance evidence
  • Readiness, cutover, training, operating procedure, and knowledge-transfer inputs
  • Functional-area status, dependencies, risks, decisions, and executive-ready summaries

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Business Engagement and Leadership
  • Build strong working relationships with business stakeholders and communicate in clear, practical, non-technical language when appropriate.
  • Lead conversations across diverse stakeholder groups, facilitate difficult discussions, resolve ambiguity, and drive issues toward decisions.
  • Act as the primary functional lead for one or more VSC domains and represent those areas in cross-functional design, planning, testing, and readiness forums.
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs, identify conflicting expectations, and recommend workable options and tradeoffs.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while remaining collaborative, organized, and composed.

Requirement Elicitation and Management
  • Plan and conduct interviews, discovery sessions, workshops, observation sessions, document reviews, and other elicitation activities.
  • Document business needs, objectives, scope, assumptions, constraints, business rules, functional requirements, non-functional requirements, data needs, reporting needs, integrations, and acceptance criteria.
  • Create and maintain epics, features, user stories, use cases, requirements specifications, decision logs, issue logs, and requirements traceability artifacts.
  • Assess requirement quality for clarity, completeness, consistency, feasibility, testability, and alignment to business outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain end-to-end traceability from business objectives and requirements through design, build, testing, defects, deployment, and acceptance.
  • Manage requirement baselines and changes, including impact analysis, stakeholder alignment, approvals, and communication of downstream effects.

Process, Functional, and Data Analysis
  • Develop current-state and future-state process flows, swimlane diagrams, context diagrams, functional decomposition, customer or user journeys, decision trees, and operating procedures.
  • Analyze process gaps, pain points, handoffs, controls, exception paths, and opportunities for simplification or automation.
  • Translate business processes into functional solution behavior that can be understood by architects, developers, testers, vendors, and business users.
  • Analyze data definitions, sources, ownership, transformations, interfaces, quality issues, retention needs, and reconciliation requirements.
  • Maintain functional models, glossaries, business rules, and domain documentation to support consistency across the program.

SDLC and Delivery Support
  • Apply strong knowledge of project and product delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches.
  • Participate across the full SDLC: discovery, planning, analysis, design, development, system integration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and transition to operations.
  • Partner with solution architecture and engineering teams to validate that proposed designs satisfy business intent and documented requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to develop test scenarios, review test coverage, support defect triage, and confirm expected functional results.
  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, release planning, dependency management, readiness reviews, cutover planning, training, and post-production stabilization.
  • Monitor assigned work, dependencies, risks, issues, actions, and decisions; escalate early with clear impact and recommended next steps.

Compliance, Risk, and Controls
  • Incorporate SOX control requirements, auditability, segregation of duties, approvals, evidence, and financial-control considerations into requirements and process designs.
  • Identify and document Data Privacy requirements, including appropriate collection, access, use, retention, masking, and handling of personal or sensitive information.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity and architecture teams to address security, access control, authentication, authorization, logging, vulnerability, and risk requirements.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are traceable through design, test evidence, implementation, and operational procedures.

Analyst Leadership Without a Manager Title
  • Provide day-to-day functional direction, mentoring, and coaching to business analysts assigned to related workstreams.
  • Coordinate analyst activities and deliverables, promote consistent methods and templates, and conduct quality reviews before stakeholder circulation.
  • Help decompose work, clarify ownership, resolve cross-functional gaps, and support onboarding or knowledge transfer for analysts.
  • Influence through credibility and collaboration rather than formal authority; this position does not require a manager title or direct people-management accountability.

WHAT’S NEEDED
  • 8+ years of progressive Business Analysis experience supporting complex enterprise technology or business transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience operating as a senior, lead, or principal-level analyst and owning complex functional workstreams from discovery through deployment.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, coordinating, or managing a team of analysts. Formal manager title is not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, prioritization, traceability, and change control.
  • Advanced proficiency creating process flows, swimlane diagrams, use cases, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, decision tables, and traceability matrices.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven ability to translate effectively between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise applications, system integrations, APIs/interfaces, data flows, reporting, role-based access, environments, and testing concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and project-management practices, with experience working in Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid delivery models.
  • Demonstrated workshop facilitation, executive-ready communication, negotiation, conflict-resolution, and decision-driving skills.
  • Working knowledge of SOX, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity requirements within enterprise solution delivery.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work onsite in Southern California as required and collaborate across business and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Vehicle Service Contracts, extended service plans, warranty administration, claims, contract servicing, cancellations, refunds, dealer operations, automotive finance, or related automotive aftersales processes.
  • Experience supporting modernization of legacy platforms, packaged software implementation, vendor-led delivery, or complex system integration programs.
  • Experience with financial transactions, accounting events, reconciliations, payments, reserves, or regulatory/audit controls.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, requirements repositories, or comparable platforms.
  • Business Analysis certification such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent relevant professional certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Establishes credibility and effective working relationships with key VSC business and technology stakeholders.
  • Assumes clear ownership of assigned functional domain(s) and develops a reliable understanding of end-to-end processes, systems, data, and controls.
  • Produces consistently high-quality, traceable deliverables that reduce ambiguity, rework, missed requirements, and testing gaps.
  • Facilitates productive workshops that result in documented decisions, owners, and next steps.
  • Identifies cross-functional impacts, compliance needs, risks, and dependencies early enough for the program to act.
  • Improves consistency and quality across the analyst team through coaching, review, templates, and knowledge sharing.
