The Opportunity

Gaines Investment Trust is looking for a Business Analyst who can turn data into clear, actionable information while keeping important business processes organized and on track.

You'll own recurring reporting, track critical compliance deadlines, support purchasing and vendor analysis, and help leadership identify trends, risks, and opportunities. You'll also serve as a cross-trained backup for the accounting team when needed.

We're looking for someone analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized who takes ownership, works with a sense of urgency, and is comfortable using SQL, spreadsheets, and AI tools to improve how information is gathered, analyzed, and reported.

What You'll Do

• Own weekly, monthly, and annual reporting and continually improve its structure and efficiency
• Build and maintain reporting workflows using SQL, spreadsheets, and AI tools
• Standardize reports so information is accurate, consistent, and easy for leadership to interpret
• Track lender reporting, property tax deadlines, permits, licenses, and other key compliance requirements
• Maintain organized, audit-ready records and proactively flag upcoming deadlines or risks
• Manage and improve the company's purchasing process
• Build dashboards and analytics to track spending, vendor performance, order timing, and budget variances
• Support vendor sourcing, pricing analysis, negotiations, and purchasing decisions
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and ways to improve purchasing practices
• Cross-train with the accounting team and provide backup coverage as needed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA)
• 1–3 years of professional experience
• SQL skills, including queries, reporting, and data analysis
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
• Coursework or hands-on experience with database management
• Comfortable using AI tools for analysis, reporting, and process improvement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a sense of urgency
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter who takes ownership and works effectively with minimal supervision
• Real estate or previous analyst experience preferred
• Purchasing or property management software experience is a plus

Work Environment

This position is based in person at our La Jolla headquarters during standard business hours.
