Job Description

Business Development Manager – Data Center Power

Are you a driven sales professional with deep roots in the data center power ecosystem? We're looking for a Business Development Manager who knows how to sell grid-connected power technology and turn relationships into revenue.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on expanding Electroswitch's presence in the data center market. You'll establish the company as a specified source for switches and relays while uncovering new revenue opportunities.

The ideal candidate has a strong background selling AC/grid-connected power distribution technology, along with established relationships across the data center ecosystem. We're less interested in someone who's purely technical, and more interested in someone who can get in front of the right decision-makers, win new business, and deliver measurable results.

You'll combine strategic market development with practical sales execution, technical know-how, customer engagement, and long-term relationship building. Success in this role means bringing an established professional network and a proven track record of building business from the ground up.

Please note: This position requires at least 60% travel.

What You'll Do

  • Map how large data centers plan, specify, and purchase power distribution products—including key decision-makers, consulting engineers, EPCs, OEMs, and subcontractors.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities for Electroswitch products within the data center power distribution ecosystem.
  • Develop and cultivate new sales channels to drive growth in emerging and established markets.
  • Create and execute comprehensive sales plans that target growth across new and existing accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Travel extensively to support business development, engage customers, and represent Electroswitch at industry events.
  • Evaluate new opportunities, manage the sales pipeline, and coordinate internal resources to close deals.
  • Drive Electroswitch products into data center specifications and Approved Vendor Lists, and develop OEM partnerships.
  • Support customer proposals by providing application designs to account teams.
  • Contribute to sales presentations and demonstrate solutions during customer engagements.
  • Build customer and OEM confidence through strong application and product knowledge.
  • Support trade shows, industry events, marketing initiatives, white papers, and other technical content.
  • Provide internal and external product and application training as needed.
  • Share customer feedback, market intelligence, and application trends with Marketing and Product Management.
  • Stay on top of competitive products and emerging industry trends.
  • Maintain confidentiality around business strategy, financial information, and other sensitive company data.

What You'll Bring

  • Technical aptitude, with the confidence to present to engineering and technical audiences.
  • A four-year technical degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred). We'll also consider technically competent candidates with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of sales experience within the data center ecosystem.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience selling power-system apparatus or similar products.
  • Prior business development experience (required).
  • Experience engaging customers across multiple levels and functions, including operations, engineering, maintenance, and management.
  • Direct experience with utility electrical power-system control and protection components (a plus).
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and trust.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and self-direction skills.
  • A home base near a major airport, with the ability to travel frequently.
