Business Development Manager

Position Summary

Astro Shapes is seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across strategic growth markets. This individual will be responsible for expanding Astro's presence within building and construction, data centers, electrical infrastructure, fabrication, industrial automation, transportation, and other OEM customer segments.

The ideal candidate combines strong business development and technical sales expertise with a deep understanding of aluminum extrusion manufacturing. This role requires a highly motivated professional capable of building relationships with OEMs, engineering teams, contract manufacturers, and distributors while collaborating internally to deliver innovative extrusion and value-added solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

• * Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within strategic market segments.
• * Partner closely with Astro sales representatives and regional sales leadership to drive revenue growth.
• * Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve annual sales and profitability objectives.
• * Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
• * Lead opportunities from prospecting through quoting, contract negotiation, onboarding, and production launch.
• * Conduct customer visits, plant tours, presentations, and technical sales discussions.
• * Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, engineers, purchasing teams, and executive leadership.
• * Drive customer adoption of Astro's extrusion, fabrication, finishing, packaging, logistics, and thermal solutions.

• Customer & Technical Engagement

• * Understand customer manufacturing processes, application requirements, and future product development needs.
• * Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and commercial requirements.
• * Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Estimating, and Sales teams to develop cost-effective extrusion solutions.
• * Act as a trusted advisor by recommending solutions that improve customer performance, quality, and cost effectiveness.
• * Support customers through product development, sampling, qualification, and launch activities.

• Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning

• * Monitor market trends, aluminum industry conditions, pricing dynamics, and competitive activity.
• * Identify emerging opportunities within existing and adjacent markets.
• * Evaluate customer and industry needs to uncover future growth opportunities.
• * Provide market feedback and strategic recommendations regarding new products, equipment investments, and capability enhancements.
• * Support long-term strategic planning efforts through customer and market analysis.

• Commercial Management

• * Prepare proposals, quotations, and pricing recommendations.
• * Negotiate supply agreements, commercial contracts, and long-term business arrangements.
• * Ensure awarded business meets gross margin and profitability targets.
• * Accurately maintain opportunities, forecasts, and activities within CRM systems.
• * Deliver ongoing pipeline and sales performance reporting to leadership.

• Required Qualifications

• * Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, or a related field.
• * Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, technical sales, account management, or strategic sales.
• * Demonstrated success in acquiring new business and achieving revenue growth targets.
• * Experience within aluminum extrusions, metal manufacturing, industrial products, or a related manufacturing environment.
• * Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and customer application requirements.
• * Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• * Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• * Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• * Ability and willingness to travel 50%+.

• Preferred Qualifications

• * Experience selling custom aluminum extrusions and value-added manufacturing services.
• * Existing relationships with OEMs, engineering firms, distributors, contract manufacturers, or fabricators.
• * Knowledge of aluminum alloys, extrusion dies, finishing processes, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
