A growing behavioral health organization is seeking a driven and relationship-focused BusinessDevelopment Representative to help expand referral partnerships and increase census across multiple programs and levels of care. This individual will play a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with hospitals, treatment providers, therapists, case managers, EAPs, physicians, and community referral sources.

The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health business development, specifically within co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment settings, and understand how to build strategic partnerships across the continuum of care.

Position Overview

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for managing and growing a designated territory, developing referral pipelines, increasing brand awareness, and driving admissions growth for programs offering services across all LOC's including:

  • Detox
  • Residential/Inpatient
  • Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
  • Outpatient (OP)
  • Primary Mental Health
  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
  • Co-Occurring Disorders
This role requires frequent field-based relationship building, strategic outreach, and collaboration with admissions and clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient placement and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain referral relationships with behavioral health providers, hospitals, therapists, physicians, EAPs, and community partners throughout assigned territory.
  • Generate new business opportunities through networking, cold outreach, provider meetings, community events, and strategic account development.
  • Maintain consistent communication with referral sources to increase census and strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Educate referral partners on available programs, clinical offerings, levels of care, and admissions criteria.
  • Collaborate closely with admissions and clinical teams to ensure smooth patient transitions and appropriate placements.
  • Maintain detailed territory activity, referral tracking, and account management within CRM systems.
  • Attend networking events, conferences, provider luncheons, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Analyze territory trends and identify opportunities for growth and market expansion.
  • Travel regularly throughout assigned territory to maintain face-to-face relationships and visibility within the community.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of business development, outreach, or admissions experience within behavioral health or healthcare.
  • Strong understanding of co-occurring disorders and behavioral health treatment continuum.
  • Experience working with multiple levels of care including detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings preferred.
  • Existing referral relationships within behavioral health, hospital systems, or healthcare networks strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and self-pay markets preferred.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, grow accounts, and drive admissions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage territory independently.
  • CRM proficiency preferred (Salesforce, Kipu, HubSpot, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout territory.
