Business Development Sales Engineer, Mobile Equipment Sensors and Controls
Own Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of Louisiana for a manufacturer that sells sensor, control, and vision technology direct to equipment builders. Ten to fifteen accounts already buying, a mapped territory, and a company car from day one.
Veteran-Owned Base $127K to $145K Bonus and Commission Company Car 12-Month Guarantee
The Opportunity
Our client manufactures sensor, control, and vision technology for the companies that build on-highway and off-highway equipment: construction machinery, refuse trucks and street sweepers, agricultural equipment, and airport ground support. This seat sits inside the industrial mobile business unit and owns business development across the southwest, working out of the Dallas office with field travel across the territory.
The territory covers Oklahoma, all of Texas, and parts of Louisiana. You inherit ten to fifteen accounts that already buy and sit well below their potential, currently covered from two other time zones. The rest of the territory is open ground, and it is already mapped. The company buys the prospect data and runs direct marketing into the region, so the work is opening doors rather than building lists.
This is a direct sale, not a line card. Deals move through technical evaluation with design and application engineers, and a real specification can take years before it produces a production order, which is why the team is built around patience rather than call volume. If you have worked as a technical sales engineer or carried a territory in the Dallas and Fort Worth market, the motion will already be familiar.
Why This Role
Inherited Book
Ten to Fifteen Accounts Already Buying
You do not start at zero. A block of existing accounts comes with the seat, all of them buying today and all of them well below their potential. They have never had local coverage.
Territory
Coverage That Finally Lives Inside the Region
Oklahoma, all of Texas, and parts of Louisiana have been run remotely from two other time zones. Putting this seat in Dallas is a deliberate strategic move, and you are the first person to own the region from inside it.
Direct Manufacturer
You Sell the Line, Not a Catalog
The company sells direct rather than through distribution. You represent one manufacturer''s technology, carry its pricing, and are not splitting attention across dozens of competing lines.
Technical Bench
An Applications Team Two Decades Deep
The least experienced engineer on the applications and software team has 21 years in this market. They ride along on customer visits and carry the technical load with you.
No List Building
The Prospect Data Is Already Bought
The company purchases company databases and runs direct marketing into the territory. Target accounts are identified and warmed before you get there, so your time goes into conversations.
Focus
Supply, Pricing, and Collections Are Not Yours
Your manager takes on supply issues, pricing pressure, and collections so the seller stays in front of customers. The team is small, long-tenured, and measured collectively.
What You Will Do
Who We Are Looking For
The one thing our client cannot train is this market. Everything else, the product line, the applications, the internal systems, and the company''s way of selling, is taught here. The hiring manager has been explicit about that split, so the bar is set on who you already sell to rather than what you have carried in your bag.
Required
Strongly Preferred
Backgrounds That Transfer Well
If you have spent your career selling into equipment manufacturers and have never carried a sensor or controls line, that is not a disqualifier. Market knowledge is the part that transfers, and the product side is taught.
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary
$127K to $145K
Depending on experience
Incentive
Bonus + Commission
Individual sales bonus and commission program
Vehicle
Company Car
Leased, with maintenance covered
Location and Schedule
This role is based out of our client''s Dallas office and works a defined territory covering Oklahoma, all of Texas, and parts of Louisiana. Most of the territory is drivable and a company car is provided. International travel is roughly once a year, including a visit to the manufacturer''s engineering and production facilities within your first two years.
In the Field
Territory Days
Customer visits across the region, frequently with an applications engineer riding along for technical evaluations.
Home Base
Dallas Office
The office is a base rather than a desk assignment. Account planning and coordination with the technical team happen here.
Once a Year
Factory Visit
A trip to the manufacturer''s engineering and production facilities, typically within your first two years on the job.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Precision Sales Recruiting?
Precision Sales Recruiting is a veteran-owned manufacturing and industrial B2B sales recruiting firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. Precision Sales Recruiting places sales professionals exclusively for manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial distribution, and manufacturing technology companies across the United States.
What is The PRECISION Method?
The PRECISION Method is Precision Sales Recruiting''s proprietary candidate evaluation framework for manufacturing and industrial B2B sales professionals. It evaluates candidates across nine scored dimensions: Procedural, Resilience, Execution, Coachability, Image and Professionalism, Sales Identity, Initiative, Ownership, and Numbers. Every candidate is assessed through structured role play, a behavioral interview, and psychometric assessments before being submitted to a client.
Do I need to live in Dallas or Fort Worth for this role?
The seat is based out of the Dallas office and the territory starts there, so candidates already living in the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex are the strongest fit. Candidates prepared to relocate into the metroplex are considered, and relocation terms are discussed case by case.
Is this a hunting role or an account management role?
Both, weighted toward hunting. You inherit ten to fifteen accounts that already buy and are underdeveloped, which gives you immediate ground to grow. The larger part of the job is opening equipment manufacturers across the territory that currently spend nothing, which is why a demonstrated record of opening accounts is a requirement rather than a preference.
Do I need to have sold sensors or controls before?
No. What matters is that you already sell technical products into on-highway or off-highway equipment manufacturers and understand how those customers evaluate and buy. The hiring manager has been direct that market knowledge is the part he cannot train and the product line is the part he can, so candidates from fluid power, motion control, electrical distribution, and system integration are all in scope.
How does the compensation work?
Base salary runs $127,000 to $145,000 depending on experience, with an individual sales bonus and commission program on top. A company-leased vehicle with maintenance covered is included, along with medical carrying no deductible and a 401(k) matched at 100 percent on the first 6 percent of pay. The full incentive structure is walked through in detail during the interview process.
How much travel should I expect?
This is a field role built around a drivable territory. A company car is provided, so a typical week is customer visits across Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of Louisiana rather than airports, with the Dallas office as your base. International travel is roughly once a year, including a visit to the manufacturer''s engineering and production facilities within your first two years.
What does the application process look like?
Apply through the form on this page. A Precision Sales Recruiting recruiter reviews your background and reaches out to schedule a 15-minute discovery call. If the role is a fit on both sides, you move into a structured interview with Precision Sales Recruiting before being presented to the hiring company. All conversations are confidential, and your information is never sent to a client without your approval.
