Role Summary
This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining practical, scalable business applications and automations across the organization. This role primarily leverages Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to deliver user-friendly tools that improve process efficiency, data accuracy, and the ability to track business processes.
The developer will also use SQL to design and maintain back-end data sources and logic-including tables, views, stored procedures, and other database features-to support applications and related operational workflows. Over time, the role will expand to include additional coding languages (e.g., Python) as needed to enhance automation, integrate systems, and broaden technical capabilities.
Duties and responsibilities
Power Apps & Power Automate
- Design, develop, and maintain Power Apps applications to support business processes across departments
- Build intuitive user interfaces and robust app logic to support approval workflows, exception handling, and operational decision-making
- Implement security, permissions, and role-based access controls to ensure appropriate data governance
- Manage application lifecycle activities including development, testing, deployment, training, and support
- Build and maintain Power Automate flows to automate repetitive tasks and enable Power Apps functionality
- Integrate Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel) and other enterprise systems where applicable
- Monitor automation reliability, troubleshoot failures, and improve workflow performance over time
- Implement error-handling strategies and notifications to ensure operational continuity
SQL Development
- Create and maintain SQL Server data structures to support application development and other activities
- Support data cleansing, transformation, and logic required for workflow applications
- Over time, build the skills necessary to optimize SQL queries and database performance to support scalable app performance and reporting workloads
Reporting & Analytics Support
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Power BI reports and dashboards as requested by the business
- Identify and resolve data issues impacting reporting accuracy or refresh performance
Skill Development/Broader Engineering Support
- Learn and apply Python and other programming or scripting languages as needed to expand solution capabilities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal development standards and best practices
- Proactively identify areas of concern for the business in the domain of analytics and application development and propose solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
skills and Abilities
- Bachelors degree required. Focus in Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a business-related environment required.
- A minimum of two years of experience with Power BI, tableau, or similar software is required.
- Proven experience building business applications using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate
- Strong SQL skills, including experience writing and optimizing complex queries, view, stored procedures, joints, CTEs, window functions, and aggregations
- Strong troubleshooting skills-able to diagnose issues across applications, automations, and data sources
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional technical solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner directly with stakeholders
- Experience supporting Commercial Operations functions (sales operations, pricing, forecasting, customer/account management, etc.)
- Familiarity with Power BI, including DAX and data modeling fundamentals
- Familiarity with Power BI Dataflows, refresh schedules, and troubleshooting refresh errors
- Exposure to Python for automation, ETL, or scripting
- Experience with SharePoint lists/libraries as operational data sources
