Overview
A highly regarded North Carolina law firm is seeking a Business Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation practice in either Greensboro or Raleigh. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to work on sophisticated business disputes and complex commercial litigation matters while receiving hands-on responsibility and mentorship from experienced litigators.
The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of litigation experience and a strong interest in handling complex business disputes from inception through resolution. The firm represents corporations, financial institutions, businesses, and other commercial clients in a wide variety of litigation matters throughout North Carolina and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in complex business and commercial litigation matters pending in state and federal courts.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other litigation-related documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda regarding substantive and procedural legal issues.
- Manage all phases of written discovery, including document review and production.
- Participate in and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
- Assist with case strategy, risk assessment, and litigation planning.
- Work directly with partners and clients on ongoing litigation matters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third-party witnesses.
- Assist with trial preparation, witness preparation, exhibit organization, and pretrial filings.
- Manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina Bar.
- 2–4 years of business litigation, commercial litigation, or complex civil litigation experience.
- Experience drafting motions, briefs, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
- Experience handling discovery and participating in depositions.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong academic credentials required.
