Role Purpose
This is a player-coach role at the emerging-leader level. As Business Manager 360, your first priority is your own desk: generating new business and growing a strong personal book of business by building lasting relationships with client companies and skilled professionals and managing the full search-to-placement process. Alongside your own production, you will mentor and coach a small team of consultants to do the same – setting the standard through your daily activity and developing the leadership skills that prepare you for a Business Director path.
Your new role

As a producer, you will:

• Develop new business and grow your book through BD calls, client visits, networking, and entertainment events — driving client relationships across your designated market and acting on leads passed.
• Manage the full search-to-placement cycle: source, interview, evaluate, and place skilled professionals into contract, contract-to-hire, and permanent roles.
• Build a network of active and passive candidates through creative sourcing, referrals, and ongoing relationship management with clients, pipeline, and placed candidates.
• Drive superior net fee performance on your own desk while actively supporting team billing goals.

As a coach and leader, you will:

• Lead by example — role model BD activity standards and operational rigor across every channel, promoting your desk, your team, and the Hays brand.
• Coach and develop junior consultants on BD, sourcing, and full-cycle recruitment through joint client visits, call coaching, deal reviews, and regular one-on-ones.
• Translate regional goals into clear weekly activity targets for yourself and the consultants you support, partnering with your Business Director on pipeline and desk reviews.
• Build a high-performing team culture of accountability, feedback, and shared goals — inspiring confidence and commitment in colleagues, clients, and candidates.
• Stay ahead of market trends and share that knowledge with the team, while continually developing your own leadership capabilities in line with Hays' values and Leadership DNA.

What you will have
• 4+ years of direct sales, business development, or agency recruitment experience, with a proven track record of personal production in a 360 or full-desk environment.
• Informal mentorship, onboarding-buddy, or team-lead experience preferred, with clear ambition to grow into people leadership while continuing to bill.
• Proven track record in business development and client development; willingness to cold-call and prospect for new business over the phone and in person.
• Ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships with high-level clientele, candidates, and internal stakeholders.
• Self-confident, motivated, goal-oriented, persistent, and a skilled negotiator who thrives in a competitive, team-based environment.
• Solid organizational and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities.
• Handles ambiguity, stressful situations, and deadline pressures well; plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal prompting or support.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

What you will get
• Base compensation of $63,000, plus a guaranteed recoverable draw, plus a high-percentage, uncapped commission plan.
• Hybrid/flexible schedule.
• PTO starting at 22 days, 2 floating holidays and 2 volunteer days. Our top producers have the opportunity to earn UNLIMITED PTO.
• Medical, vision and dental plans to choose what works best for you.
• 401K with guaranteed match and fast-paced vesting schedule.
• Initial and continuous training & support from Learning & Development for your professional growth.
• A defined development path toward Business Director, with leadership training and mentorship along the way.
