POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general guidance of the Shingle Springs Tribal Health Program Executive Director and the direct supervision of the Health Systems Administrator, the incumbent shall be responsible for transmitting all business office correspondence between the clinic and the billing company, assisting with credentialing and processing patient payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Collect daily TOS payments from all departments; track and report payments to finance and billing company.

  2. Sort all business office mail, transmit to billing company and disseminate as appropriate.

  3. Collect and prepare insurance payments for submission to finance for deposit. Enter pharmacy payments into TPMS.

  4. Act as point-of-contact on-site for credentialing providers with payers.

  5. Collect and process patient payments made by phone.

  6. Daily review and merge of duplicate visits in the coding queue.

  7. Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.

  8. Provide back-up scanning duties as needed.

  9. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Knowledge of Federal regulations, guidelines, and standards governing patient confidentiality.

  2. Working knowledge of general office machines and computers.

  3. Ability to type 45 wpm.

  4. Good oral and written communications skills.

  5. General Recruiting Indicators.

  6. High School Diploma or equivalent.

  7. One-year experience and/or training desired in the following:

a. Medical Terminology

b. CPT - ICD 10

c. Spreadsheets, database, and word processing

d. Medical billing

  1. Post job offer: CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot (during flu season) are required as a condition of employment, unless a medical/religious accommodation request is provided and approved. Hepatitis B Vaccine will be offered at no cost to employees, but it is not required.

NATIVE PREFERENCE

Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
