We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support enterprise Document Generation System (DGS) initiatives within a healthcare payer environment. This role will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, healthcare operations, and technical teams, translating business needs into functional and technical requirements for document generation and customer communication solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with Document Generation Systems or Customer Communications Management (CCM) platforms, such as Smart Communications, along with a strong understanding of healthcare payer operations. The Business Systems Analyst will support the full document lifecycle, including generation, integration, storage, retention, retrieval, and delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, healthcare operations teams, developers, architects, QA teams, and other technical resources supporting Document Generation System initiatives.
Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements for document generation and customer communication solutions.
Translate business needs into functional specifications, technical requirements, user stories, process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
Partner with stakeholders to understand healthcare payer business processes, operational requirements, and regulatory considerations.
Perform complex data mapping, data analysis, and data retrieval assessments to support document generation and integration requirements.
Conduct gap analyses, impact assessments, feasibility studies, and solution evaluations to determine appropriate business and technical approaches.
Support document template requirements and configuration for the generation of fully rendered PDF documents.
Partner with technical teams to define requirements for APIs, microservices, data integrations, and upstream/downstream systems supporting document generation.
Support the end-to-end document lifecycle, including document generation, storage, retention, retrieval, distribution, and delivery.
Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder meetings, design sessions, and document review discussions.
Develop and maintain business process documentation, workflow models, use cases, data mappings, and system documentation.
Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test case review, defect triage, requirements validation, and issue resolution.
Ensure solutions align with business requirements, healthcare regulations, governance standards, security requirements, document retention policies, and audit requirements.
Assist with production support, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work within Agile/Scrum and Waterfall delivery environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Develop user documentation and training materials and provide knowledge transfer to business users and support teams.
Strong experience as a Business Systems Analyst supporting Document Generation Systems (DGS), Customer Communications Management (CCM), or similar document generation solutions.
Experience with Smart Communications or comparable document generation/CCM platforms.
Experience with document template configuration and requirements supporting the generation of fully rendered PDF documents.
Strong understanding of healthcare payer operations and workflows, including areas such as membership, enrollment, claims, benefits, and related health plan functions.
Demonstrated experience performing complex data mapping, data analysis, and integration requirements gathering.
Experience translating business requirements into BRDs, functional specifications, technical requirements, user stories, process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
Working knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architectures, and enterprise system integrations.
Basic knowledge of Splunk for monitoring, troubleshooting, and log analysis.
Experience supporting SIT, UAT, defect resolution, and requirements validation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and business processes while effectively managing changing priorities.
Experience working directly within a healthcare payer or health insurance organization.
Familiarity with healthcare regulatory, governance, security, and compliance requirements.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale document generation, document management, content management, or digital correspondence platforms.
Knowledge of healthcare data standards and system integration patterns.
Experience supporting document retention, access control, security, and audit requirements.
