LHH is partnering with a leading industrial-focused organization seeking a Business Unit Controller to support a major operational business unit. This individual will act as a strategic finance partner while also owning core accounting, reporting, and cost accounting functions.

This position sits at the intersection of finance and operations-ideal for someone who enjoys driving insights, improving processes, and influencing performance across a manufacturing environment.

This is a fully remote position but candidate needs to sit in Houston

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial reporting for the business unit, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

  • Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making

  • Own budgeting and forecasting processes, partnering closely with operations leaders

  • Analyze key performance drivers, including cost accounting metrics, variances, and operational KPIs

  • Develop forward-looking financial models and strategic plans

  • Evaluate capital investments and support long-term growth initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies

  • Strengthen internal controls and risk management processes

  • Partner cross-functionally to identify operational efficiencies and cost improvement opportunities

  • Lead and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals

  • Support ongoing systems and process enhancements to improve reporting and scalability

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or business unit leadership roles

  • Strong background in manufacturing or cost accounting environments

  • Proven ability to partner with operations and influence decision-making

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities

  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong business acumen with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset

Pay Details: $160,000.00 to $170,000.00 per year
